We have a wide variety of services during the course of a year.
While Rabbi Howard leads the majority of our services, we are fortunate in having a group of enthusiastic members who can 'fill in' as needed. What is more, our custom is that as many members as wish are involved in services as often as possible.
Young people who have reached the age of Bar or Bat Mitzvah are encouraged to lead the Shabbat service of their celebration, together with their families.
Our Kabbalat Torah graduates prepare and lead their own services and through the year we will experience services led by our Youth Clubs, our Religion School classes and, occasionally, by visiting rabbis.
Shabbat Services
Erev Shabbat services take place every Friday at 8.15pm.
Shabbat services are held on Saturdays at 11am.
Shabbat Shalom.
Shabbat Shalom is the service for our youngest members - up to 11 year olds
Shabbat Shalom takes place every second Shabbat of the month in the Schindler Hall behind the Synagogue, starting ten minutes before the adult service, at 10.50am.
Shabbat Shalom is the ideal way for children to be introduced to the rituals of the service. We have our own Ark and Torah Scroll, and we read a short service that covers all the key components of the main service. This is all done at the children's' level and pace, with music, songs and as much joining in as possible.
After the service we do craft, which everybody always enjoys. Then there's time for kiddush before we all process in to the main service to join the Rabbi on the bima to tell the grown ups what we've been doing.
We have special services during the year to mark the festivals and seasons, as well as our annual Teddy Bear Service - when our congregation is swelled by the addition of at least one furry friend per person!
Family and Youth Services
Roughly once a term services are led by our Religion School and youth club youngsters. Contact the Synagogue office for further details.
Bar/Bat Mitzvah Families Services
These are held twice a year for families who will be celebrating a Bar/Bat Mitzvah within three years. Please contact the Synagogue office for further details.
