Our Youth Club Southgate Progressive Youth (SPY) will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2011. Since its inception in 1971 it has provided a wide range of activities for hundreds of young people in the community and is now recognised as on of the leading synagogue youth clubs in the UK.

Its membership is largely drawn from children whose parents are members of the congregation, but a significant number of the young people who attend the club who attend the club are affiliated to local Reform or United synagogues.

The club is mainly run by the young people themselves with support from a number of dedicated adults. The SPY Council, consisting of 12 - 18 year olds is involved in the decision making processes affecting the club under the direction of the adult management committee.

It organises major events during the year relating to significant dates in the Jewish calendar, quite often for the whole community, They also arrange residential weekends and write and participate in creative services.

The club is affiliated to ULPSNYC Netzer, the national youth movement of the Union of Liberal and Progressive Synagogues, Makor AJY, the umbrella Jewish youth organisation in the UK and the Federation of London Youth.

We provide a variety of facilities in a number of youth clubs meeting regularly in our youth club room Ha Moadon.

Our Youth Clubs

SPY - for all young people aged 6 to 13 years old, meets every Saturday evening (during term time) from 5.30 to 7.30pm. Cost £3.00 to include tuck.

Rikud - Israeli dance group for all young people aged between 8 and 18, meets every Sunday (during term time) from 1.30 to 4.30pm. Subs £2.00. For more details call the Synagogue Office on 020 8886 0977 or email: spy@sps.uk.com.
